Topsides

We all know that gleaming topsides attract much admiration within the Shrimper fleet.  But with weather and sea conspiring against us, how do we keep them looking good?   On these pages you will find some ideas on how to maintain that “as-built” shine.

Gel Coat Finish

In common with many other boats, the gel coat on a Shrimper topsides is susceptible to discolouration and fading from UV, with dark colours being the worst affected.  Over the years there have been many suggestions for dealing with this.  Polishing often does the trick, but in extreme cases the only answer is to repaint the hull.   Follow these links to see how other owners have tackled this problem.
