Cornish Shrimper 19 - Turuna

Turuna is not to be confused with a normal Cornish Shrimper. She was owned for many years by Peter Gibson and is only coming to the market because of his recent passing. Peter was a gifted development engineer, one of the first people in the UK to restore early Ferrari cars.

Tauuna was his passion, and although she’s an early boat (number 43) very little remains of her original specification. Peter re-engineered every fitting, stem to stern, with his own improved designs, which he made in his own workshop from only the finest materials. Originally configured as an out-board version, he installed a brand-new Beta two-cylinder inboard marine diesel mated to a correctly rated folding propellor. This is just one example of the thought and attention to detail that’s gone into Tauuna’s development over many years. There’s no visible fibreglass in her snug cabin, her sail-plan has been improved with a slightly longer bowsprit, larger Jib, and a battened mainsail. The trailer was also designed and made by Peter with easy launching and stable towing a pre-requisite. Turuna was sailed extensively with many significant passages under her keel. Tauuna has never been left on a mooring. When not in use she was always stored indoors and shows very little sign of her age. She presents in outstanding condition and is totally sound in every respect. There are far too many features to list here, she comes fully equipped and ready for new adventures with her lucky new owner. An early inspection is recommended to fully appreciate this exceptional example of this popular little gaffer. She is currently lying ashore near Worcester.
