Shrimper Mk 2 Argot

No.: 868
Year: 2002
£18,995.00

A rare chance to acquire a completely refurbished trailered MK2 19 in the most desirable and spacious 4 berth & loo configuration. Complete with sprayhood, spinnaker & new sails. Absolutely no work required, just sail or tow away.

Argot was built as the 2002 London boat show demonstrator and as such features all desirable additions to the standard MK2 specification. My extensive refurbishment has updated and enhanced both exterior and interior fit and I’m confident you won’t find a better boat of this rare specification available for sale at present. It’s much admired by fellow sailors on the Dart (see Sailing Morning Vicar on You Tube ‘Tiny Gaffers To Salcombe) and I’ve enjoyed sailing it as much as working on the refit. But a change of tack back to flying rather than sailing means it’s time to find Argot a new home.

There’s plenty of photos of Argot in work and under sail on my instagram feed @mrbarnstormer but probably best to get down to the Dart to check out the boat and have a test sail. I can also email or WhatsApp more photos.

Argot has a navy blue hull, grey antifouling. Light cream topsides & interior, cream sails.

Exterior Inventory

New Hyde cream sails under new grey boom cover & zipped rolled headsail cover. Twin reefing with updated and easy colour coded reefing controls. Headsail has grey weathermax UV strip to luff and foot fitted by Dick Hannaford of RJ sails. Far more effective than another layer of sailcloth.

Carbon fibre ‘fly away’ jib stick with bungee, blocks and cockpit controlled control line  for improved downwind sailing.

Blue and white asymmetric spinnaker, twin sheets and locking running blocks on soft shackles.

Folding traveller track supported wooden boom frame for mooring use, stows in outboard locker when sailing. Webbing tie down strap replaces main sheet on mooring.

Mariner 5w 4 stroke outboard with sailpower output for battery charging. Recent service by Wills Marine.

Brand new laminated ash & cherry swan neck tiller to clear outboard turning to port - experienced outboard sailors will appreciate the elevated design that also allows stoop free use when stood docking. Telescopic removable RWO tiller extension, clam cleat dropping rudder extension control with 2:1 gearing. Superior Wavefront TillerClutch for hassle free hands free sailing. Full length grey canvas tiller cover with stay straight strap for use on mooring.

Aeroluff stainless steel continuous headsail roller reefing with new control line.

Stainless steel fittings throughout, all wooden spars stripped of nasty Ceylon window varnish and now finished with 10 coats of Epifanes gloss varnish with stunning result. Custom leather sheathing to stainless steel gaff jaws & throat halyard block with ash parrel bead retaining strop secured with stainless steel brummel hook.

All halyards and running rigging replaced with 10mm Liros braid on braid deliberately colour coded for easy identification by inexperienced crew. Revised peak halyard gearing to match throat - pull both and they raise at the same speed. Much more sensible than original design. Overlength peak halyard which stows inside boom cover for superior UV sail protection and improved aesthetics. Winch with handle, clutch locks for all halyards.

Topping lift control completely revised with coachroof mounted spinlock PXR cam cleat alongside headsail furler - much easier control than boom based.

New braided dyneema forestay with masthead routing clear of furling headsail. Doubles as spinnaker halyard.

New high geared kicking strap with Wichard hook attachment for quick removal and storage bag.

Barton track mainsail outhaul control with forward boom mounted  clam cleat for easy control from cockpit.

Replacement 12mm Liros double braid main and jib sheets. Main sheet removable with storage bag.

Folding removable spray hood which I’ve found incredibly effective and useful for stowing kit under by day and night.

Twin Robship bulkhead cockpit bags for halyard, winch, water bottle and kit storage. Both pop stud mounted with non corroding plastic fasteners. Matching shroud turnbuckle covers.

Unique removable instrument console that mounts on port side of companion way with useful storage tray on top for phone, snacks etc. All instruments have removable covers. Remaining companion way still allows easy access to interior. Plastic washboard to match when in use, use original boards on mooring.
