Our Membership Secretary, Martin Blake, advises that the initial response to his membership data update request was initially excellent, with letters and emails flooding in unabated throughout November.  December saw a reduction in numbers with only a handful trickling in each day and by the New Year even these had dried up. 

Looking through the membership register, there is STILL A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF MEMBERS WHO HAVE YET TO REPLY.  If you are one of these, please make it a New Year resolution to RESPOND IMMEDIATELY, OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE MISSING FROM THE NEW REGISTER OF MEMBERS, DUE TO BE PUBLISHED IN APRIL.

Many people expressed their thanks to the SOA’s officers for the time and effort they put into the Association. This team operates quietly behind the scenes and includes Trevor Heritage (National Secretary), Karen Macey (Treasurer), Keith Thatcher (Website and Technical), Val Clack (Magazine Editor) and Richard Worsley (Boat sales), plus Martin, our Membership Secretary.  Of course, at a local level nothing would happen without the endeavour of our local Hon Secs who organise events throughout the year.

Donations

The SOA’s appeal for donations with the data update has seen a remarkable response from members, with over £2000 being donated in sums large and small.  To all those who donated - many thanks.  Your generosity is very much appreciated and will allow the SOA to continue to offer its events, publications and website for the benefit of the wider membership.
