Great close sailing at the 7th Shrimper Open Championships hosted by Mylor Yacht Club between Friday 4 and Sunday 6 September 2026 in the spectacular Carrick Roads. Entries were slightly down this year at only 20 boats, but the winds held throughout, often with bright sunshine and the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all, both on and off the water. Each of the 6 races over three days were dominated by 4 boats - two visitors: White Rabbit 728 sailed by Andy Barker and David Scott, and Tarragon 367 sailed by Mike Lyons and Richard Goss; and two local boats:Jackdaw 678 sailed by Stuart and Jack Sly, and last year's champion, Ysella 298 sailed by Brian Phipps and Paul Chatfield. The scoresheet below shows how close the racing was, and how the lead chopped and changed around.
