Whilst the Cornish Shrimper may not Racingimmediately appear to be a racing machine local areas organise races throughout the year, both evening and weekend. Probably the keenest fleets are at Falmouth, Rock and Poole. Rock Sailing and Water Ski Club host a racing and cruising week for Shrimpers on the Camel Estuary. Racing at Poole is organized under the aegis of the Royal Motor Yacht Club, where a number of Poole based boats have their moorings.

Falmouth Week is the biggest event for the racing shrimper, with about 30 to 40 boats making it one of the largest classes at this major regatta.

The "Round the Island" race from Cowes usually attracts a dozen or so Shrimpers and is a fair endurance test. Contact the Solent Hon. Sec. for details.

The Old Gaffers Association handicap for Shrimpers (2003) are:
Outboard: 0.827
Inboard: 0.821

Portsmouth Yardstick scheme recorded number (2003) is 1305 for an inboard Shrimper with a two bladed propeller.
