the site
I wrote some time ago that the time has come to find some new blood with new ideas to push the site on. There has been a very steady silence since then so it looks as if we will continue the way we are! There has not been any noticeable fall off in use of the site despite the slower rate of updates so we will continue in that manner. However if you have an interest and either understand the wonderful world of the web or would like to learn I would still love to hear from you! Please mail me at soa@shrimperowners.org.
2008 Programmes
There are newsletters and programmes on the following pages: Poole and Falmouth.

We had a few logs of 2007 and there is other news. The logs are from a voyage on the west coast of Wales, more.. , and also the west coast of Scotland, more.. . News from Falmouth can be found in their Autumn Newsletter, more..
We are now in 2008, please send the events to me so that the site can be updated.
borrowing
I did have some response about the idea of borrowing Shrimpers but do not have the time at present to follow this up. Come retirement and loss of the day job all may change and you may see more ideas about this then. Meanwhile my boat, Blue Moon, is still in Malta so if you want to sail in warmer climes do get in touch at soa@shrimperowners.org. We have a house you could borrow as well, see www.musysinmalta.org.uk .

Martin Pumphrey has sent news that
29 boats raced for the Peter Keeling Trophy during Rock Shrimper Week 2007. The results can be seen by clicking here..
International Week 2008
I have been told by Barry that the dates of the 2008 week in Plymouth are now 7 - 14th June 2008 not the 14 - 21 June as posted in the Magazine. The main base and pontoon moorings for the week will be at the Royal Western Yacht Club and Queen Annes Battery marina with Sutton Harbour also available if necessary. Barry is obviously going for a big one as he tells me that "we should be able to accomodate 50 trailers. So get the dates in your 2008 diary now.
tip of the week (or year!)
securing a cockpit tent
At the Boat Show, a Wayfarer sailor suggested an alternative way of securing
the tent and avoid having to drill into the Shrimper hull to fasten the
hooks. Screw in small screw-eyes at intervals on the underside of the teak trim and
thread a line through them and tighten it. Along the edge of the tent have straps with Velcro which can loop around the
line under the teak trim, and back on its self and held in place by the
Velcro.
The Wayfarer sailor said that this system held up in very strong winds. He seemed to be quite experienced at spending nights afloat in his craft and had made his own tent.
